| About Didjelirium |
Born in France but raised under the shining sun of Tahiti, French Polynesia, Didjelirium grew up with the sounds of reggae music and positive vibrations only. “Deejay” in the original Jamaican way, he’s the main hosting MC, in Shanghai, of the Uprooted Sunshine crew as MC Didje, singing up the vibes over the selecta’s music. Over 8 years practicing circular breathing techniques and masterizing his didgeridoo also allows him to regularly play over any kind of music, from Dub to House, from Techno to Minimal and various electronic sounds, joining Dj's from various musical field and live musicians as well. He plays both traditional didgeridoo and experimental one ,like the Didjeribone, mix between didgeridoo and trombone, and builds up live tracks using both Digitech's JamMan & Kaos Pad 3 which is being played in China for the very first time.
Since he arrived in China, he got involved in many independent projects and events, such as PAUSE, Shanghai's main music crew collective ; FREAKLUB, minimal electro party ; TOURIST, massive underground event. He played for several clubs opening, also in many chinese clubs in Shanghai and all around China. With the UPROOTED SUNSHINE, he started the Shanghai By Bus party (gathering monthly more than 500 people at 4Live or at The Shelter), and held ONE LOVE, weekly reggae event at LOgO, for 2 years. He got invited by londonian dubstep master KODE 9 to sing with him at Bonbon, sang with BIG RED and DJ SCIENCE for the only gig they had in Shanghai, burnt Hong Kong dancefloor with DJ LYNX and supported headliners like THE BUG, GOTH TRAD, FABIO, STEVE BARKER, DJ SHORTKUT, DJ NETIK. He playsed along DJ MAEL over his Dubstep sets and goes to Beijing regularly for special events. He’s also working from time to time for big brands such as Chivas or Hennessy bringing both his MC (English and now a little bit in Chinese !) and didgeridoo skills all over China (Shenzhen, Wuhan, Chongqing, Harbin, Cixi, Guangzhou and more). He performed at Beijing MIDI Festival 2007, Kenting (Taiwan) Spring Scream Festival 2008, Shanghai Yue Festival 2008 and Zhujiajiao 2009.
Didjelirium is also a producer, songwriter and lyricist. Working on his own tracks, preparing various albums (Dub Electro and French Rap mainly) as well as original reggae/dancehall riddims for the Uprooted Sunshine, featuring many guests from both local and international scene. He's also doing club/house remix and original tracks with DJ MARIUS for the LATE NIGHT PIMPS, and recently joined a japanese influenced punk rock band as lyricist/back vocalist and adding electro sound with machines. He's always up for some more music everywhere he can. He's also collaborating with great local artists such as Dj Wash, N1D, Lai Fai. He produces tracks for different companies and clients, bringing original vibrations to original projects. He’s a true life-addict, cynical and dark as he can be shining, always ready to share this love with the crowd, no matter if he’s performing in a small chinese club or in a big music festival like the MIDI Festival in Beijing.
Coming from roots reggae, smoothly drowned in dub music and forging his weapons over dubstep and dn'b for the past 3 years, he's an unavoidable Singer/MC in China, touring all over Asia now and a solid member of Asia's underground music production.
