Charles Cros, this young Montreal artist from the Chinese province of Yunnan,
is a virtuoso of the pipa (Chinese lute). Liu Fang is also excellent on the Guzheng (Chinese zither or harp). She is a graceful performer,
caressing her instrument to release ethereal melodies that reveal its full range
of delicate expression. "Liu Fang is without a doubt the greatest ambassador
of the art of the pipa in North America and Europe." (G. Marceau, La Presse, 2001).
Due to her extraordinary musical express, Liu Fang is described as "divine
mediator" (World, 2006), and her playing is "Masterful, graceful and

劉芳來自昆明. 6歲開始學琴, 9歲首次公演, 20歲畢業於上海音樂學院。自1996年移居加拿大以來的十多年中,劉芳在三十多個國家裡舉辦過近七百場演奏會。所到之處受到當地媒體極大的關注,並給以高度讚揚。法國《東部自由報》 (La Liberté de L'Est)稱劉芳是“琵琶藝術的真正大使”(Véritable ambassadrice de l'art du pipa);《法文時代周刊》(L'actualité)譽為“琵琶女皇(L'impératrice du pipa)”。 英國國家廣播電台(BBC)將劉芳的演奏譽為是“大師般的、優美的和不可抗拒的”(Masterful, graceful and riveting). 世界著名的影星及戲劇大師楊·麥凱倫伯爵(Sir Ian McKellen)在2003年11月7日英國國際廣播電台(BBC World Service)舉辦的音樂會上對觀眾和聽眾說: "這僅僅是一位音樂家,但是由十隻天才手指演奏的"(There was just one musician,but ten talented fingers)。法國《世界雜誌》(World, No. 16, 2006)更將劉芳譽為是“連接神人的中介”(médiatrice divine)。
